Weedipedia :: Welcome!
Weedipedia synthesizes information on weed biology, ecology, botany, taxonomy, management, medicinal use, folklore and history. It uses the same software that runs the well-known collaborative encyclopedia project Wikipedia. This software (MediaWiki) has been given to all for free. You can find information by browsing through the links below or using the search box on the left. Please feel free to help out by: creating new weed profiles/reports (see below), finding mistakes with any current content, making suggestions of any sort and/or contributing images or short video.
Your edits will not destroy any existing content (as the very point of the wiki concept is to allow for safe collaborative editing). Also note - all additions and changes are subject to an approval process as described in Weedipedia Workflow. You can find out more about how to participate using the Help link in the left navigation panel or looking at the help pages on MediaWiki's site.
On behalf of the Weed Science Society of America, thanks for visiting and we hope you find our site a useful resource!*
Directions for Contributors
Reports/information about specific weed species should follow the formatting given by the Report Template. For more information about formatting, creating an account, etc., please visit the Weedipedia Help page. Contributors are strongly encouraged to make an author page about themselves. This can be accomplished by putting your name into the search box, pressing the "Go" button, and choosing to create the page if it doesn't exist.
Educational Use of Weedipedia
There are many ways a teacher could use the Weedipedia to further their teaching objectives. Various ideas and support can be found Here.

Contact Information
Great new ideas and helpful critique should be directed to the Site Editor. Please take the time to attempt to find help on formatting and software-specific issues (as opposed to the content itself) in other ways before emailing those questions to the Weedipedia Help Desk.
